Description
What is no heat blue sapphire?
An untreated sapphire is a natural stone mined from the earth that has not been subjected to any treatment or enhancement process other than a quality polish or cut, transforming it from a crystal into a gemstone.
Sapphire is a member of the corundum family, just like its brother ruby. The only difference is that rubies are red corundum, while sapphires are corundums of all other colors and shades (blue, yellow, green, pink, and white).
About 90% of all natural sapphires in the world jewelry market have been dignified, which is considered the norm. Heating or heat treatment is the most widespread and acceptable method for treating the gem.
This particular method is considered the most effective and the least invasive to the structure of the stone.
The heat treatment method was discovered over 1000 years ago when local miners found these stones after a volcanic eruption.
It turned out that the sapphires they mined before were cloudy and not that bright, but after the lava was applied, they became brighter and purer.
This is why the heating method is considered the closest to the natural treatment, as many sapphires are found exactly after the volcanic eruption.
No heat sapphires with good color and clarity are pretty rare. They make up only 10% of the total weight of the jewelry market. This is why they are valued much higher, and their price is also high.
No-heat sapphires usually have a zonal coloring and are less monochromatic than heated ones. Often no heat, blue sapphires have in their coloring several colors (polychrome sapphires).
Sometimes polychrome stones are also minimally heated, but usually, one tries not to do so, as they lose their natural bicolor. No heat blue sapphire will surprise anyone who has ever seen it in their lives with its beauty.
